Kim writes "Dougal came to us as an unexpected surprise. We had no intention of taking another dog at the time, but I heard that Robin needed a family to start a puppy for someone who could not take one until he was at least 4 months old. Badly in need of puppy kisses, I volunteered to take the puppy in, just for a couple of months of course...Well when Cindy called to see when we were ready to send him to his new family, we decided we just couldn't give him up just yet. He was our little Doodle Bug! "Dougal was by far the easiest puppy to raise. He was calm, well-mannered, and very smart from the time we got him. He adjusted very well to our family and our home. He enjoyed playing with Justin and Anka, and learning all his puppy manners through them. His favorite activity was to roll around on his back in the mud, dirt, grass, snow, or anything else he could flip onto to his back in. The one thing he never really enjoyed was swimming. He would wade out into the water to meet the other dogs, but he would never really swim. We cherished our time with Dougal, and hope that we have given him a strong enough start in life to be a guide dog. He holds a special place in our heart, and will be deeply missed by our entire family!" In November, 2009, Dougal decided that he would rather try another career and tried out for the Westchester Police Department. He was accepted and is now in training with an officer there.
