About GEB

On August 1st, 2007, a group of GEB raisers and puppies descended on Greece Middle School for a morning program.  We were part of the week's curriculum on Animals.

Fifteen-month-old Kendrick and raiser Diane talked to the kids about where Kendrick gets to go for his socialization.

Kendrick gets a little snuggle from raiser Diane.

Diane answers questions from the students while Kendrick gets a few pats!

Kyrie (Kendrick's sister) and raiser Mary talked about having a new puppy over and over again as the "grown up puppies" go off to Guide Dog School.  Lots of work and LOTS of fun!!

Mary explains that the "thing on Kyrie's face" is not a muzzle, but a "Gentle Leader" or "Halti".  This is so Kyrie cannot pull and hurt Mary's arms when they are working.

Pablo and raiser Sandy talked about the puppies she has raised with the Odyssey program through the Greece School district.

Pablo watches with interest as Diane and Kendrick play "Touch".

You can tell who the photographer finds most important here!  Shown are Paxton and Kyrie and the "nearly headless" bodies of their raisers, Robbin and Mary.

9 time veteran raiser Cindy and Ambassador dog Potter talked about the stages of training at Guide Dog School.  Potter really enjoyed the tummy tickles!!

Robinson and raiser, Kitty, greet a student.  He was the youngest pup at the event and did very well!

Looks like he's ready for a nap now, Kitty!

Trooper and raiser, Helen, talked about all the special things that we do with the guide dog puppies - including brushing their teeth, cleaning their ears, clipping their nails and giving them a nightly massage so that they are used to body handling.  Since a blind person can't see a cut or bump, tick or burr, they must use their hands to find anything amiss with their dog.
