This page highlights Monroe County dogs that have recently changed status - gone "In For Training" (IFT) to the Guiding Eyes For The Blind Training Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, graduated with a new partner, retired, or had puppies! The spotlight is currently on....

Eleni, Dougal, Imanya and Jax recently returned to Yorktown Heights to prepare for their In For Training evaluations. All 4 passed and following a physical, will begin their training to become Guide Dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Eleni is probably the sweetest pup we've raised to date-with exception, perhaps, of Windy, our second pup. Eleni was quite the challenging teen but once through that rite of passage returned to her sweet, affectionate and MOSTLY cooperative personality. In the house she stuck close to whom ever happened to be her chosen favorite of the moment but If "Celia" our prairie dog was basking by the fire then there was no contest at all. We have many photos of the two "best buddies" enjoying time together!

Celia really went into mourning when Eleni left and "kidnapped" Eleni's soft (and nearly shredded) stuffed animal. She took it into her cage and it's now part of her sleeping nest! These pups really do leave a footprint on the heart!"
